Joaquin Phoenix say’s he’s going through with it

According to AP writer David German, the former Hollywood star, who is currently promoting his “final” film, Two Lovers, is sticking to his guns and “walking the hip hop line.” Phoenix insists his plans to ditch movie-making and instead focus on a music career are no “hoax” and that he is serious about surviving in the hip hop industry.

According to German, Phoenix, who is now sporting a rather profound, Jim James-esque beard, has said that “there’s not a hoax. Might I be ridiculous? Might my career in music be laughable? Yeah, that’s possible, but that’s certainly not my intention.”

In an interesting twist, Phoenix’s brother-in-law, Casey Affleck has been on hand, camera crew in tow, as he shoots a documentary about the former actor’s career change.

Good luck to him, I say. Affleck too – depending on what happens, that could be on interesting doc.

The Charlotte Observer has the article in full.
